The nave of the Birth is also known as the Nativity. Here is a representation of the birth of Jesus or the Nativity, which was brought from the old cathedral. The six pieces carved in sandstone by the Italian artist Ludovico Conssorti, have their gaze directed towards the baby Jesus, thus representing the birth.
The baptismal font in the central part is carved from salt rock. For this reason, when the sacrament of baptism is performed in this font, salt water is used so that the font does not dissolve.
It is illuminated from above by an intense white beam of light that symbolizes the holy spirit descending vertically over the place. In the background a waterfall of crystallized salt and its floor is illuminated with a blue tone that symbolically evokes the Jordan River, the place where Jesus was baptized. The sound of water and its very presence in the baptismal font give it special meaning and symbolically reaffirm the place. To your right you will find several paths leading to the central nave.
