Just to imagine the 17,300 square meters of our tour in the Salt Cathedral, of the 180 tunnels of the Zipaquirá salt mine built in 1978, the Salt Cathedral only occupies 24.
At the seventh station of the Via Crucis, “Jesus falls to the ground for the second time.” Analogous to the third station, the Cross and Christ himself fall again. The crack generated is this time larger and deeper.
The Cross penetrates the earth and the fracture in the floor extends to the nearby kneelers. Symbolically, the drama is further asserted by the subtle handling of light within the cracks and in the empty chamber in the background.
