We are 165 meters underground, inside the Cathedral, these chambers become our lungs for the flow of air that allows us to breathe. The air enters below us, through the vehicular tunnel and rises due to natural atmospheric pressure.
In the ninth station, “Jesus falls to the ground for the third time.” The symbolic and dramatic content of this passage of the cross is expressed through the carving of a cross literally buried in the floor and in the deep cracks that appear towards all the kneelers.
Our horizon collapses, but the Cross remains vertical, firm, thereby signifying the spiritual strength that will always keep us in the face of adversity.
